Edinburgh Freelance news
Thanks to everyone who came to last night’s meeting and helping give Paul Holleran a good send off as he prepares to step down from his post as Scottish organiser.
Here are some upcoming events of interest:
THURSDAY 30 NOVEMBER
Writers in Digital Times
6pm
Rhoderick Dhu, 21 Waterloo Street, Glasgow
At this Bookweek Scotland event we will hear about how to go about self-publishing for the digital age and hear from five journalists who have had various types of work published – Deedee Cuddihy, Catherine Deveney, Mark Fisher, Alex Gordon and Maggie Ritchie. Free but ticketed: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/writers-in-digital-times-tickets-38629247118
TUESDAY 12 DECEMBER
Festive Fundraiser
7.30pm
Leith Theatre
Instead of our usual Christmas party, we have decided to piggyback on a fund-raiser for The Ferret, the not-for-profit investigative journalism cooperative. It’s taking place at Leith Theatre and the entertainment includes legendary musical satirists Playing Politics, hot from sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Scottish Politician of the Year awards; veteran stand-up comedian Vladimir McTavish, award-winning spoken word artist Jenny Lindsay of Flint and Pitch and political poet Jim Monaghan. Tickets cost £22 (£12) and can be booked here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/playing-politics-festive-ferret-fundraiser-tickets-39280306454
We’re hoping to have an informal gathering for branch members before the party starts – details to follow.
